I am discontinuing the Golden Flower line. When a formula is out of stock, it will be listed as out of stock or removed. If you put them in your cart, pay attention to the stock alert and please don't order out of stock quantities. I have stocked and sold Golden Flower Chinese Herbs for 10 years, and have been an authorized apothecary until I voluntarily gave that up in 2010. I regard these as dietary supplements which I sell to responsible adults. My terms of use strongly encourage my customers to work with local qualified healthcare providers on accurate diagnosis and treatment recommendations. I do not feel like I have the legal right or ethical obligation to treat these as prescription drugs in interstate commerce, and make my customers send me a signed prescription from a doctor/acupuncturist with a limited number of refills. I also know that it is illegal for me to practice medicine across state lines, so I will not do phone consultations and regard my interstate customers as patients. John Scott, one of the owners of Golden Flower Chinese Herbs, and I have talked about this at length and at this time disagree on these points. I feel that for both patient and practitioner benefit, his company should not introduce these into interstate commerce with drug-like restrictions or a marketing strategy which lets unscrupulous practitioners price gouge their patients due to an artificially restricted supply chain. I also feel he opens his company to risk of FDA action by "introducing unapproved new drugs into interstate commerce" through this prescription requirement. My service assumes that adults who learned about particular formulas in the Golden Flower line which they have found beneficial can make their own decisions, especially if they have been educated by an acupuncturist as to the traditional contraindications and use cycle recommendations. I know from talking to many of my customers that prefer Golden Flower Chinese Herb formulas that they no longer live around an acupuncturist, or that their acupuncturist went out of business, moved, or doesn't run an efficient office/apothecary. I am compassionate to their position, and am glad that I've been an easy source for them to continue their chosen herbal treatment. I also do not enjoy being a "prescription cop" and have better uses of my time than to try to force customers to produce more paperwork for me to track. I am selling my remaining inventory and will phase them out unless Golden Flower Chinese Herbs is willing to change their terms and limit their interference in the distribution chain to limiting sales to licensed providers. Their formulas and information keep appearing on other sites anyhow. If they are OK with being on a Weight Loss Spa site which has an acupuncturist who calls over state lines to do a "consult" after a sale has been made and do not want to be on my acupuncture clinic's professional & legal Traditional Chinese Medicine/Daoist Philosophy site, then that is the destiny they are choosing. I'll be glad to help my customers select comparable formulas from other quality lines which are legally marketed without prescription requirements. If you're attached to Golden Flower's products but can't or won't get a prescription from a local provider, please let them know about your desire to purchase them without a prescription by calling them at 800-729-8509 or e-mailing info@gfcherbs.com. |
