A good book for the acupuncture waiting room, the back says.

A hard to find book co-authored by the noted translator of the Yellow Emperor's Internal Medicine Classic, Ilza Veith. Fine with very good dustjacket.

First American Edition, 1972. This was the year I was born and the year acupuncture made a big splash in the media. I wonder if I heard it on the news as an infant?

A photo of the signed page is here. I can hardly make out the signature, and am not asking much for this autographed first edition from 1975. It is an interesting early book in English on the history of acupuncture.

his reprint from India is of a rare and important homeopathic book on the use of Gold as a remedy. It focusses on heart diseases, melancholy, and also mentions its use as an antidote to mercury. The author write: "To my mind there are varieties of disease that Gold, and Gold only, will cure, and others that Gold, and Gold only, will alleviate to the full extent of the possible; and not a few of these varieties of disease are of the gravest nature.

This academic work from Stanford University by Fabrizio Pregadio solidly establishes the tradition of the Golden Liquid/Golden Liquor as the highest practice in the Chinese medical repertoire. Going back to source texts around 300 CE (with Ge Hong and the Bao Pu Zi), Pregadio explores the history of elixir alchemy and early Daoism.
